Matevz Lenarcic es un biólogo, alpinista, parapentista y piloto, de 53 años, partió del aeropuerto de Liubliana para recorrer 100.000 km, los seis continentes, tres océanos, 120 parques nacionales, la Antártida y el Everest. Todo ello en aproximadamente dos meses y medio.
Su avión ultraligero, un Pipistrel Virus-SW914, fue construido por Pipistrel, una empresa eslovena especializada en las aeronaves ligeras, ganadora en 2011 del premio de la NASA a la aviación ecológica por haber logrado recorrer 200 millas en menos de dos horas utilizando menos de un galón (3,79 litros) de combustible por ocupante.
